Musq Ingredients
It's what's left out that makes it superior! No fillers, nothing synthetic and none of the known irritants found in even sensitive skin or other mineral brands. Take our test at the bottom of the page to see if your 'pure minerals' or 'natural' make up stands up to its claims!
Skin absorbs about 60% of what is put on it directly into the bloodstream. Makes sense then to feed your skin a healthy diet of Musq. (Regular makeup is the equivalent of junk food!)
Why Compromise?
We're flattered to be copied, but why compromise when you can have the innovator? All Musq products are fortified with anti-aging antioxidants and natural sunscreen, and some have additional certified organic ingredients to keep skin in optimum condition, minimising skin care needs and saving you money! If you've wondered why some mineral brands seem cheap, check their ingredients and you'll see talc and bismuth; cheap and irritating fillers! No wonder they need primers and concealers!
No secret ingredients.
Musq does not simply claim to be 'mineral', 'natural' or organic', while still using synthetics in some of our products. Nor do we give only a partial list of our ingredients, such as just the "key" ingredients. All of our 100% safe natural ingredients are displayed at each stockist and below. Minerals contain some of the most beautiful colourants for the cosmetic industry. This is why Musq makeup products are named after precious stones and metals.
Musq does not use bismuth oxychloride found in most mineral brands - it is a cheap filler and colourant that results in a greasy, big pored look and rashes. Classed as a heavy metal, it is a byproduct of lead! Being heavy it must be "buffed" well into pores for adhesion. Bismuth oxychloride should not be applied to acne or after salon treatments when skin is at its most vulnerable.
Musq makeup has no talc, carmine or petrochemicals - paraffin, mineral oil, polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol, parabens, sodium laureth and lauryl sulphate, genetically modified ingredients, synthetic colourings, fragrances and preservatives. Mineral makeup isn't healthy when it contains these ingredients!
Instead we use crushed and purified Australian minerals, triple milled to a cosmetic grade but not nano sized. They reflect light giving skin incredible radiance and provide anti-aging benefits by being a natural sunscreen and maintaining skin moisture. Our cosmetic grade Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide are non-chemical sun blocks! Soothing Zinc Oxide is great for irritated skin and zinc as a vitamin is known to be good for the skin. Mica is a translucent mineral, which when coated with other minerals in varying thicknesses, gives off different colours and a
Makeup that cares for the environment
Using safe natural ingredients instead of synthetic ingredients also has environmental benefits. Producing synthetic ingredients releases hazardous bi-products into the environment. Synthetic product washed off your skin damages our waterways - hurting the environment, wildlife and food chain. Musq uses recyclable materials. All products in the range are vegan. In July 2007 Musq received accreditation with Choose Cruelty Free Ltd as a Cruelty Free Company.

How do other mineral brands really rate? Skip the promises and glossy photos; let their ingredients do the talking!
Remember to rate each product within a brand as the dry and moist products may hide different synthetics or irritants.
Step 1. Locate the ingredients. ( on the bottom, on the box, on the web or on display at the stockist)
Step 2. Add a point for each of the following included: bismuth oxychloride, talc, carmine, propylene glycol, a synthetic colour shown by FD&C or D&C followed by a number, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben or Methylparaben, Imid Urea, nylon 12.
Step 3. Add an extra point if bismuth oxychloride is the 1st or 2nd listed ingredient. (Shame! Shame! Shame!) Add all points to get a score.
Score 0: congratulations, this product is free from the mostly commonly used synthetics and irritants used in supposedly pure and natural mineral brands. Rare!
Score 1 -3: Warning...this is a product with nasty ingredients that are bad for your skin and your health! The look and feel of the makeup will be compromised.
Over 3: Danger...throw it out! It might have some minerals, but it's a sham!
Coming soon.... want to know what all those nasties actually do? We'll give you the low down.
